After about 30 minutes in the sound is a bit better balanced after the sound guy cranked the stage right mic to compensate for the issue, but the cranked mic accounts for the light buzzing you may hear on this recording. Our apologies.]

Willie Wisely Interview and Performance

On January 8th, Willie Wisley released his self-titled new disc Wisely on the Oglio record label. He's now out on a tour that will take him to both coasts of the U.S. in support of the album before returning to his home in California in February.

On Saturday, January 5th Wisely played a tour and album kick off concert in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota at The Bryant Lake Bowl. HowWasTheShow was on hand and has a review of the show on the main site.

The day after that concert, HowWasTheShow founder David de Young joined Willie in his mother's basement in St. Louis Park as the singer/songrwriter talked about his new album, the tour and played a few songs from the new record.

This podcast includes live performances of "Through Any Window," "California" and "Cracked World View."

Ed Ackerson performance and Interview

On Friday night, November 23rd at the Varsity Theater, Ed Ackerson (of 27 Various, The Dig and Polara) will release his debut self-titled solo album on his own Susstones record label. At the show Ed will be joined by a band featuring Peter Anderson (drums), Marc Perlman (bass), Tim Osseau (keyboards) and also Eric Lovold of the Alarmists on guitar. The 5 band bill also features the Melismatics, The Mood Swings, Janey and Marc, and Strange Lights. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Showtime is 8PM.

This past week, HowWasTheShow took the Artists Series podcast on the road to Ackerson’s Flowers Studios in Uptown Minneapolis where HowWasTheShow’s podcast host David de Young sat down with Ed and Eric to talk about the album and the upcoming show. On Ackerson’s website, he mentions being “a songwriter, musician, record producer / engineer, instigator and facilitator.” Listen to this show to hear several examples of how Ackerson has contributed in all those ways to the Twin Cities music scene over the past 25 years. The interview also includes two exclusive acoustic tracks, “Three Great Days,” and “Wired Weird,” as well as “Flashes of Light” from the new record.

On Thursday, September 27th Jan (aka Jeaneen Gauthier) will release her new EP "Everything Must Go” on Guilt Ridden Pop. She's been celebrating all month with a residency at the Nomad World Pub where she's been joined by some of her friends in the local music scene including The Cates, David Beckey of the Autumn Leaves, The Mad Ripple and more. On Thursday, she'll be joined by her own band, which includes Jacques Wait on bass (who also produced the record) and drummer Nick Hook. Also on the bill Thursday will be Colonial Vipers Attack and Deep Pool.

Jeaneen stopped by HowWasTheShow this week to talk about her new EP and graced us with a yet-to-be-released song in our studio.

Idigaragua band and director podcast
