Ed Ackerson performance and Interview

On Friday night, November 23rd at the Varsity Theater, Ed Ackerson (of 27 Various, The Dig and Polara) will release his debut self-titled solo album on his own Susstones record label. At the show, Ed will be joined by a band featuring Peter Anderson (drums), Marc Perlman (bass), Tim Osseau (keyboards) and also Eric Lovold of the Alarmists on guitar. The 5 band bill also features the Melismatics, The Mood Swings, Janey and Marc, and Strange Lights. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Showtime is 8PM.

This past week, HowWasTheShow took the Artists Series podcast on the road to Ackerson’s Flowers Studios in Uptown Minneapolis where HowWasTheShow’s podcast host David de Young sat down with Ed and Eric to talk about the album and the upcoming show. On Ackerson’s website, he mentions being “a songwriter, musician, record producer/engineer, instigator, and facilitator.” Listen to this show to hear several examples of how Ackerson has contributed in all those ways to the Twin Cities music scene over the past 25 years. The interview also includes two exclusive acoustic tracks, “Three Great Days,” and “Wired Weird,” as well as “Flashes of Light” from the new record.
